Newest Project

What do you guys think of my newest project??

Great start Mike! As you know, I was big into autographs for a few years prior to getting back into the Juan cards. There are several Hall of Famers who sign for free or a minimal fee through the mail. I can get a list and some addresses together for you if you want. Let me check and see if I've got some extras around to trade as well. Believe it or not, I've got signed cards of just about every Hall of Famer who has played since 1930 under glass hanging in my billiard room. You'll really enjoy this project!

Ron

Any help you could provide would be welcome. Also, I would love to see what you have. Put some pics on here!!

rfurnish 02-13-2011 12:00 AM

I'll try to get some photos together. Unfortunately I didn't have the foresight to scan all these before they were framed and matted. In the meantime, here's one to get you started...

Bobby Doerr
33705 Illamo Agness Rd
Agness, Or 97406

He's a great signer! You'll probably have it back within a couple of weeks...just remember to include a self addressed envelope.

I'll try to get some more together over the next couple of days.

Thanks,
Ron

Ironically, I just won this...

Should get it in a couple of days.

Mike,

Great idea but maybe you should get Roberto to adopt you so you don't run out of money in your new quest for signatures. Looks like a fun project. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Hey Ron, I just looked at your 2010 Rangers cards...awesome!! Where do you live? DO you go to a lot of games? How did you get all of those?

Love the Hamiltons and the Youngs. I have 56 Michael Young autos, but none IP. I have 48 Josh Hamilton autos with several of those being in person.

Check out this link...

Let me know what you think.

Hamilton is great in person, as most of the guys are. I live in Virginia Beach and make my way up to Baltimore a few times each year. That's where my girlfriend and I got most of them. I did pick up a small number of them at spring training about three seasons ago.

My brother and I were fortunate enough to be able to have a beer with Whitey Ford several years ago...that photo is my favorite. Sorry that the photos are not better; I really wished I scanned these prior to having them framed.

The players in the Yellow Cramer cards are Aaron, Appling, Ashburn, Banks, Boudreau, Conlon, Chuck Connors (The Rifleman), Dickey, Durocher, Garagiola, Greenberg, Grimes, Herman, Hubbell, Kelley, Killebrew, Koufax, Keene, Lemon, Lyons, Mantle, Mays, Mize, Reese, Roberts, Snider, Terry, Vander Meer, Vernon, Waner, Williams, Wynn

The Fleer cards are Blyleven, Aparicio, Bench, Berra, Brock, Carlton, Carter, Cepeda, Kaat, Feller, Concepcion, Dawson, Doby, Doerr, Gibson, Irvin, Jackson, Ryan, Ford, Kell, Kiner, Molitor, Murphy, Musial, Perry, Rizzuto, Smith, Jenkins, Robinson, Schmidt, Schoendienst, Slaughter, Stargell, Wilhelm, Yazstrzemski, Spahn
I'll try to get through some boxes the next couple of days...I know I've got some extra hall of fame signatures that we can trade for.

Here are some billiard room photos:

The DiMaggio is my favorite.

Rafferity 02-18-2011 08:54 AM

Diamaggio facial expression is classic.....don't know whether he saying WHOA! or telling the guy in front of him RUN!

Gonzaleznut 03-09-2011 12:40 AM

Three of my newest ones. Absolutely love it!!

I am now up to autos of 58 of the 205 HOF players.

great stuff Mike - have you ever thought about trying to put any 1950's sets together?

538 03-09-2011 07:55 PM

Ted Williams is one of the few players with a worse reputation than Juan Gonzalez with the press. Having said that, what a great hitter!

Thought about it...yes, but just seems daunting and expensive.

I would probably do either 1960, 61 or 62. Love those years.

Gonzaleznut 05-04-2011 01:52 AM

Newest HOFer on a card (had him already on a ball). You might have heard of him before.

I also got this guy. Rob likes him...

I got Ryno to sign a ball for me at an Iron Pigs game for me lasr week...awesome minor league park

jjt111 05-05-2011 02:08 AM

Love going to the Iron Pigs games. $10 tickets, great stadium, great food!

mcabee1 05-13-2011 12:17 AM

I completed the 55 bowman set w/variations in about 18 months - it cost about $1000 - it was too tough as long as condition wasnt an issue - my mays and aaron were both really nice, but my mantle wouldnt have graded a PSA 1

I think that my favorite year from the 1960's is 1963.
