Default 1998 Donruss Signature #19

I have a 1998 Donruss Signature #19 card that looks like the #19 card except that it has a gold stamp on it that says "Super Bowl XXXIV 2000" on it. Anyone know what this one is?

There is a similar Jim Thome card listed here: http://www.sportscardfun.com/trader/tribefan.asp

Why would a 1998 card have a 2000 Super Bowl stamp on it?? Was this released by someone or stamped later?

It is probably some "after-market" deal. Pacific did that for a while on a lot of baseball product at various shows in the late 90's-early 00's.

I don't consider those unique items. Just novelties.

I know they embossed cards as I have a ton of those but I wasn't aware that someone was stamping gold foil onto cards?

You, sir, are correct, I have a worthless card.

PLEASE NOTE: These are very rare promo cards!
From 1999-2001 the Playoff Card Company had a gold stamp redemption promotion at specific cards shows where they would "Gold Foil" stamp the Logo of that particular show, however you could only obtain a Foil Promo by having it stamped at their booth. What makes the BASEBALL PROMO'S so rare, is that in '99 & "00 although Playoff had purchased Pinnacle, THEY DID NOT HAVE A BASEBALL LISCENSE TO PRODUCE CARDS UNTIL MID 2001. Thus the only product that "PLAYOFF" could legally foil stamp promo's of (for Baseball) were 1998 Leaf R&S & '98 Donruss Signature as those were the only two products they took over distribution of in the bankruptcy procedure after they were already produced by Pinnacle. As a result, only a handful of each players promo from each show exist, I would conservatively estimate that at the higher production shows only 30 to 50 of each card exist, however, for most of the shows I would say less than 15 of each exist DO NOT MISS OUT!!
I consider the cards with pacific embossing and stamps like this to have been defaced.
