Default er dang ebay!

Sucks on ebay when someone you have talked to is bidding on a card you want to bid on. If I new I was going to lose would bid so high to help the other person out money wise...looking at you Gonzaleznut...I dont really want to drive the price up for ya dang it all

You have to remember that it will keep the value of our collections up but you have to remember it's not personal. Line from the movie "You got mail!" I'd give a card away that I have two of but if I need it and you get it, you'll deserve it for sure because I hate losing like everyone else.

Ok, Stephen, let me give it to you straight. Here is the way I look at eBay...

First: I only need one of each card so if you see me bidding on something it is because I need it.

Second: If a card is a common or numbered greater than 50 and someone I know is winning it, I will restrain from bidding because I do not want to drive up the cost of the card for a buddy. I have the patience to wait until that particular card comes around again.

Third: Any card serial numbered 50 or less is up for grabs!! That is a rare enough quantity, in my opinion, to let the market determine the value.

Bottom line...if you see one of those rarer cards you want/need for your collection, do not feel bad about bidding against me or anyone else. Although I appreciate the courtesy, that is the nature of collecting. Believe me, if I want a card bad enough I will be willing to bid high enough to win it. Jonas is absolutely right...it is not personal.

My take on this is..It's every man for himself no matter if it is a common,#'ed/25, or a 1/1...the card is worth whatever someone wants to pay...I do NOT take it personal when ANYONE outbids me..I set my top bid and if I win I win...however to not bid because another fellow collector has already bid on it?That doesn't fit right as I don't get on ebay everyday so because one person saw it first the rest of us shouldn't bid???????It's not an auction if the first to bid gets it...I think we can all be "Buddies" and trade with each other and not be bothered by losing auctions to another fellow collector...In Closing..I LOVE the site,LOVE seeing everyone else's collections, and let's all face facts the NONE of us is ever going to get all 4900+ cards...

First of all, a big welcome to you, Steven - I'm looking forward to checking out your collection.

And secondly, I guess that I am a believer in the "every man for himself" philosophy. For the most part I try to snipe auctions, and I rarely put in an early bid unless I am trying to win the auction for the opening bid price. I have seen many auctions in which I thought there was suspicious, shilling-type bidding on behalf of the seller, and sniping is the only way I know to avoid at least some of the shilling. I hope that no one here will take it personally if I outbid him or drive up his price, and I certainly will not take it personally if one of you does it to me. Obviously, there are just too many factors involved for us to create an all-inclusive policy about who should win and/or bid on certain auctions, and so I think we are all prepared to accept some negative ebay experiences along with the positive ones.

Kyle

You guys realize that this site probably helps feed your interest in furthering your collection and conversely brings more bids and drives up prices to some degree?

I have thought that since day 1. Good point Freddie. I know that I have spent a TON more than I used to before this site. It is because I had nothing really to compare my collection with.
